Tideslow Rake
26 May 2024

This interesting walk starts from Bamford at the junction of the Mytham Bridge old road with the A6013.
After crossing the road we follow the River Dewent initially before turning up to Offerton Hall and onto Offerton Moor. We continue over Shatton Moor before descending into Bradwell for lunch. There is cafe (outside seating) and toilets.
After lunch we will climb out pf Bradwell and make our way via lanes, field paths and access land to Tideslow Rake and High Rake, where there are remains of some of the old lead mining buildings. We pause here to have a look at the remains and the information panels detailing the history of the mine.
Continuing, we walk through Great Hucklow to Grindon, where we pick up field paths again for the short walk to Foolow. Here we will have a tea break, There is a pub in Foolow and there may be time for refreshments.
