Crich

28 April 2024

This will be a steady, scenic, 14 mile circular walk, starting and finishing on the A610 at Ambergate.
We cross the road, and on into The Birches and then through Shining Cliff Woods. On to Alderwasley Park and then along field paths to Long Wood and Mill Wood. We then reach the B5035 past Meerbrook Farm and along Intake Lane up on to Cromford Moor. A steady descent down the hillside into Cromford village for the main lunch break with choice of refreshment places.
In the afternoon we head for Cromford Wharf and follow the canal footpath until reaching Lea Wood. Through the wood to Holloway and Wakebridge villages, eventually reaching the viewpoint at the Crich Stand and Monument. From there we drop down into Crich village, cross The Tors and through Crich Chase and finish along the canal footpath, to arrive back at our starting point on the A610 at Ambergate at 5.30 pm.
As usual there should be a shorter walk option and new members always most welcome.
