The Sutton-in-Ashfield Rambling Club continue their popular fortnightly winter programme with a 9 mile linear ramble in a scenic part of the White Peak area. We are very pleased to continue to welcome new members and can usually offer an alternative shorter walk.
The ramble will commence from Lickpenny Lane on the B6014 to the east of Tansley. We then head west along various field paths into Tansley and then enjoy good views from Riber and continue south to Starkholmes. Onwards then through woods and farmland eventually reaching the attractive village of Cromford for our lunchtime break. Good choice of pubs and cafes for refreshments.
After lunch we move north by Ball Eye Quarry, memorable for being the location of murders in the 1920”s. Then past Ember Farm and Masson Farms aiming to arrive at the Matlock Bus Station for a 4.00pm coach departure home.
