Limestone Way – Part 2 Thorpe to Bonsall

20 March 2022

The Sutton-in-Ashfield Rambling Club continue their winter programme with another attractive linear walk, this time covering a beautiful section of the Limestone Way between Thorpe and Bonsall. A steady 12 mile ramble. We will start at Thorpe. with a slight deviation from the official route in order to avoid a potentially busy road. Heading first for Thorpe Pastures and then across fields into Tissington village, where we rejoin the Limestone Way. Onwards then to Parwich village for our main lunch break. There is a pub in the village serving tea/coffee along with the usual refreshments. After lunch we move on to Ballidon and then after a short quiet road section, we cross some fields and enjoy a short break, before dropping down to Grangemill. From there, the final section of this scenic route takes us through Ible and over Bonsall Moor, into the village of Bonsall. There may be time for a drink at the Barley Mow, before walking down to the Fountain, for a 5.30 pm coach departure home.

We are always pleased to welcome new members to the club, offering a day of healthy exercise, attractive scenery and friendly company. The Skills coach sets off from the “Staff Of Life” pub in Sutton-in-Ashfield at 9.15am and the Bancroft Lane end of Stockwell Gate (near the Mansfield Asda supermarket) at 9.30am There are other pick-up points between these locations. For the full list see under the menu title ‘Programme’.

The coach fare is £12, accompanied juniors free. For further information please ring John on 07749164455 or Helen on 07592886381
