Giddy Edge

This interesting and scenic eleven mile walk, starts from Tansley at Lickpenny Lane. From here we follow footpaths across several fields heading towards old Tansley and Tansley Knoll. At Tansley Knoll we head down the road at the side of the Gate Inn pub towards Lumsdale.
We then head towards Matlock, passing the waterfalls and onwards to Hall Leys Park, where we can have a quick tea and toilet break. From here we ascend to High Tor and Giddy Edge (well named, only for those with a head for heights! alternative available). There are great views from the Tor, if the weather allows.
Descending from the Tor, the walk leads us to Riber Castle, where we will probably have lunch. Afterwards, the views continue, as paths lead us into Starkholmes, through Coumbs Wood and Bow Wood, down to the mills and across to High Peak Juction, on the Cromford Canal. This lovley, peaceful location could be a chance for another tea stop.
Finally we follow Cromford Canal, to finish in cromford for 5.30pm. Hopefully the bus can pick us up at the cromford canal car park, or the bus stop on the A6 close to the Cromford Hill Junction. As ever new walkers are always most welcome.
No need to pre-book, just turn up at your most convenient pick-up stop. Fare is £12.

Distance approx 12 miles with invariably shorter options.
Winter rambles finish earlier in accordance with the available daylight.
These walks will usually be of a shorter duration.
