Cromford
24 December 2023

The Sutton-in-Ashfield Rambling Club continue their winter programme with a walk in the Cromford area. It will be a steady enjoyable 8 mile circular walk from Cromford Meadows with plenty of opportunity for refreshments during the day.
The club are always very pleased to welcome new members and also hope that as many members as possible will be able to support this Christmas Eve walk.
From Cromford Meadows we will follow the Cromford Canal down to the High Peak Junction and then link up with the High Peak Trail. We continue along the Trail up to an excellent viewpoint at Middleton Top for a probable mid-morning break with refreshments if the cafe is open.
After walking another short section of the Trail we will veer of it picking up a path to the right taking us past Moor Farm and then to Arm Lees Farm. A brief bit of road walking and then we soon turn off to the right following a path through Hopton Quarries eventually arriving at Middleton village for our lunch break.
From Middleton we explore paths around Dene Quarry and descend into Cromford village with time to enjoy refreshment before returning to Cromford Meadows for a 4.00pm coach departure home.
There is no need to book. Just turn up at the most convenient bus stop. Coach fare is £12, payable on the return journey in cash only. Why not give our club a try? It might be the best thing you ever did.
