Cromford – Christmas Ramble

22 December 2024

The club is returning to its traditional Christmas Ramble format this year, with a much extended lunchtime at the Boat Inn, Cromford. The ramble will be a steady seven miles starting at Ambergate and finishing at Whatstandwell. New members most welcome.

Leaving Ambergate village we’ll head north through the old wire works, and on to Alderwasley Park. Continuing then along a section of the High Peak Trail, before cutting across into Cromford village

Then comes the main event with a buffet at the Boat Inn. and plenty of song and laughter with our talented accordion and keyboard player, Alan Woods. There will also be a raffle, so please bring a wrapped prize. Please be generous buying tickets as the proceeds will be donated to Edale Mountain Rescue, as always. Unfortunately the deadline for booking the buffet has now passed, but anyone is welcome to join the walk and enjoy the pub with maybe just a liquid lunch.

In the afternoon there is a pleasant three mile walk by the Cromford Canal down to Whatstandwell, where the coach will depart at 4.00pm.

New members are always most welcome. No need to book, just turn up at one of the stops listed below. Fare is £12.
