Chee Dale

3 August 2025

The club will  be  enjoying some excellent White Peak scenery during a 12 mile linear walk from near Taddington to Ashford-in- the-Water. There will, as usual, be a shorter walk option. The starting point will be from the A6  near Taddington and  follow some lanes to the Pennine Bridleway. Then joining up with Chee Dale, an attractive steep-sided gorge on the River Wye. We then head east to the Miller’s Dale Station for our lunchtime break, with refreshments and toilet facilities available.

In the afternoon we continue eastwards taking an old plate-layers track through tunnels eventually reaching the spectacular Monsal Dale viaduct. There will be an alternative route via Water-cum-Jolly Dale. After crossing the A6, we walk through   Great Shacklow Wood and then recross the A6 to out final destination of Ashford in the Water. The coach will depart for home, between 5.30 and 6.00pm. As always we welcome all new walkers. There is no need to pre-book, just go to your nearest pick-up point. The coach fare  is £14.
