Bolsterstone Ramble

18 August 2024

The club will be visiting an attractive new area on the fringes of the Peak District  This will be a 10 mile circular ramble from the ancient village of Bolsterstone, eight miles north-west of Sheffield.

There will be spectacular  views to enjoy  during this exhilarating walk. Please remember to bring sufficient refreshments as there are no facilities en-route. As always new members always most welcome.

From Bolsterstone, perched on a narrow ridge top  between  two valleys, we descend  the Ewden valley to explore More Hall  and Broomhead reservoirs. Then head west along Heads Lane and ascend  to the trig. point at the top of  Whitwell Moor.  Superb 360 degree panorama at this point.

We then descend into the Little Don valley to visit  the Underbank Rservoir on the edge of Stocksbridge The final section is a steady walk south east  back to Bolsterstone where there should be time for refreshment  before a 6.30pm coach departure home.
