This is a previous walk by the Sutton in Ashfield Rambling Club in the Peak District. Please click for details of the next walk or a walking calendar. On Sunday, 27th January 2008 the members of the Sutton Rambling Club will be enjoying a fairly leisurely 8 mile ramble in the attractive Chatsworth Park and Beeley area of the Peak District.
The walk will commence at the Robin Hood (a mile to the east of Baslow on the A619) and set off eastwards to Dobb Edge. We then head south through Chatsworth Park passing by the Hunting Tower and pausing for a mid-morning coffee break at the Emperor Lake. We will then carry on past the Swiss Lake/Cottage and cross moorland to the Hall Bank Plantation. The morning section of the ramble finishes with a stroll through the woods to the village of Beeley where there is a choice of cafe or pub for lunch. In the afternoon we move back north following the Derwent Valley Heritage Way through Chatsworth Park with an afternoon stop to enjoy views of Chatsworth House. We finish at Baslow ready for a 4.30 departure home. This walk encompasses a good mix with parkland, moorland and woodland. A steady pace and an excellent choice for new members who would be most welcome. There is no need to pre-book your seat on the coach. This weeks leaders are Shirley and John who can be contacted on 01208 813076 or 01623 796396. If you would like further information about the club please phone Diane on 01623 408704 or click for the 2008 programme of walks and previous walks. |
